Our 3rd Annual Lions Roar Homecoming Tailgate Party was a huge success!! Thank you to all the businesses, organizations, clubs, Vernon ISD clubs, and food trucks who all helped make this a fun event. Thanks to all of our Lions fans who stopped by and visited one of the food trucks, played a game or just mingled with friends in the crowd. We appreciate all of you!!

This is National School Lunch Week and this morning VES treated the cafeteria staff with burritos from TJ's and a drink to thank them for all they do for our students. October 6 is National Instructional Coaches Day, and Vernon ISD is lucky to have four wonderful instructional coaches!!! They provide great support to our teachers and help them be the best they can be in the classroom!!

Today we handed out our Student of the Week honors for last week, and receiving that recognition were: Kayceon Wilson, 2nd Grade; Kaylee Bennett, 3rd Grade; Grayson Northcutt, 4th Grade; and Kayla Calvillo, 5th Grade. Congratulations!! Keep up the good work!!

It is HOMECOMING WEEK!! Our Lions will be hosting the Boyd Yellowjackets for the 2025 Homecoming Game Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the 2025 Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Single game, reserve seat tickets can be purchased at the Vernon ISD Administration Building until Noon, Friday. General admission tickets must be purchased online at www.vernonisd.org No tickets will be sold at the gate.

Parents, Vernon ISD likes to hear from you and values your input. Please take a moment to complete our parent survey. We do this survey every year, and survey results from previous years have played a part in the district altering various processes and procedures. Last Friday, "Decades Day" was the theme for our Lion Spirit Pep Rally, and several of our teachers and staff enjoyed wearing some groovy threads. Check out these pics from VES and VHS.

Today we celebrated National Custodian Day by giving a gift and card to each of our VES custodians. Our PTO also gave the custodians a little gift and a card. We just wanted them to know how much we appreciate them and all the hard work they do at VES.

Today, Oct. 2, is National Custodian Day and we want to give a big shout out to all the members of our Vernon ISD custodial staff!! They are some of the behind-the-scene, unsung heroes who keep our district running!! We couldn't do it without them!! Thank you to each and everyone of custodians for all you do! You are greatly appreciated!!

Our Vernon homecoming is next Friday, Oct. 10, and we start pumping up that Lion spirit Monday and continue to build it all week with "Dress Up" themes for each day. Get your costumes ready for each day and show that Lion spirit!!!

Tomorrow is an Early Release Friday. We hope our students enjoy getting an early start to their weekend!!

It's hard to believe that tomorrow is October 1st, but that's definitely the case. Here's our Cafeteria Menu for the month.

Through the first six weeks of the school year, our student attendance has been great. We appreciate the parents for their support in having their children in the classroom.

VISD will not hold classes Tuesday, Sept. 30. It is a scheduled Parent/Teacher Conference Day.

Remember it is mini cheerleader night for those youngsters in kindergarten thru 5th grade who signed up for the clinic. Please be at the stadium by 6:45 tonight and gather with the cheerleaders on the east end of the track.
