We are so grateful to our PTO and generous sponsors for providing a delicious lunch for our amazing teachers and staff! Today’s meal included spaghetti, fresh salad, drinks, and dessert, and it was truly appreciated by everyone. Our VES fifth graders had fun today in the Egg Drop Challenge. Students had to design a container that would keep an egg from breaking when dropped from various heights. Take a look.

On the Vernon ISD 2025-26 school calendar May 4 is an inclement weather day, however we do not need to use the day to make up time missed, so all campuses and offices will be closed on Monday. We will resume our regular schedules at all campuses and offices on Tuesday, May 5. We hope all of our students, their families and our staff enjoy their 3-day weekend.

We sent our VES All-Stars off in style this morning, as classmates lined the hallway to cheer and give high-fives as the all-star athletes loaded the bus for their to Altus to compete in the All-Star Olympics. All-star student/athletes from across the district competed in the All-Star Olympics. A special thanks to the City of Vernon and Vernon residents, who gave them a send-off down Wilbarger and Main this morning.




May 1st is School Principals' Day and Vernon ISD is blessed to have some amazing educators leading our campuses. We can't thank them enough for all they do for the students and teachers they are responsible for at their individual campuses.

Today is School Lunch Hero Day as we celebrate our outstanding food service workers. Vernon ISD has some amazing cafeteria ladies who work hard to provide our students with a good breakfast and lunch. Sometimes these ladies make a bigger impact on our students than they will ever know. We just want to give a big THANK YOU to our wonderful food service workers.

Next week (May 4-8) is Teacher Appreciation Week and Vernon High School is making it a dress up week as a way students can show appreciation for their teachers and have a little fun. The district liked the idea so much we decided to share it with all campuses in case some of their students wanted to join in on the fun. We have some amazing teachers at all of campuses, and each one of them is very much appreciated for all they do for our students.

Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day!! Vernon ISD has a great group of bus drivers who keep the safety of the students riding their buses a top priority. Vernon ISD appreciates these men and women not just today, but every day!! Thank you!

The Region 9 Education Service Center is partnering with Partners Resource Network for a conference and resource fair for parents of school-age children with disabilities. The goal of the conference is to give parents the tools and knowledge to confidently advocate for their child in the ARD process and beyond. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 16, at the Region 9 Education Service Center in Wichita Falls.


VES Moms, mark your calendar!! We will be celebrating YOU on Tuesday, May 5, with our Muffins With Mom breakfast!! The event starts at 7 a.m. in our cafeteria. Our students love it when members of their family can join them at school, so we hope all of our moms, or their substitute, will be able to attend our event.

The Vernon Tennis Camp is scheduled for June 1-4, at the Ruben Vargas Tennis Courts, with additional courts at Vernon College being used if there are enough campers. Those campers 3 to 10 years of age will have camp three days (June 1-3), while campers from age 11 to 18 will have camp for four days (June 1-4). Registration can only be done online by scanning the QR code below. The deadline to register is May 29.

The Vernon All-Star Olympics are being held Friday at the Boys & Girls Club. Students in pre-kindergarten thru high school from Vernon, Crowell and Quanah will be competing in track and field events, and will also be enjoying games and other activities at a fun station. Vernon is expecting close to 60 students to be participating in the event. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with Opening Ceremonies scheduled for 9 a.m. Pre-K thru fifth grade students will begin competing at 9:15 a.m., while the sixth grade thru high school students will be at the fun station. At 10:15 a.m. they switch, with the older students competing in the track and field events and the younger students enjoying the fun station. Closing ceremonies are scheduled for 11:45 a.m. The event is open to the public and there will be a concession stand available for snacks.
