On Wednesday, Vernon Elementary had its first T.I.E. Club meeting of the year and we had a wonderful turnout, with 34 young gentlemen from the 4th and 5th grade joining us for our introductory meeting. The VES T.I.E. Club will begin meeting every Wednesday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 7:55 a.m., in Mr. Burr's music room. The club is open to all 4th and 5th grade boys. If you have a 4th or 5th grade boy who is interested in the club but missed the meeting yesterday, that is OK. They are more than welcome to join us next week.

Sixty golfers hit the course at the Hillcrest Country Club Saturday morning for Vernon ISD's 4th Annual Lions Roar Golf Tournament. The scores were low and the temperatures high, which made for a lot of shot making, laughing, sweating and having fun. During VISD's teacher/staff professional development last week one of the sessions was led by our Director of Safety and Security Lt. Autumn Thames. She gave a presentation on VISD's safety policy and procedures for various emergency situations. Keeping our students safe during school and while they are on our campuses is a top priority for Vernon ISD.
We have a special opportunity returning to VES this year and that is the T.I.E. Club! This is a great group for our 4th and 5th grade boys! Check it out next Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Students and their families visited our campuses Monday evening during Vernon ISD's Meet The Teacher event. Students picked up schedules, found their classrooms, and met their teachers during their visit to their campus.

This morning Vernon ISD held the annual Convocation for all staff to officially kick off the 2026-27 school year in the Empire Room of the Wilbarger Auditorium. The morning started with a breakfast prepared by our Nutrition Services staff, and was followed by guest speaker Mike Daggs, who involved teachers and staff in a few activities before speaking on the importance of staying interested, engaged and committed to the students who will walk through the district's campus doors for the 2026-27 school year.
There were quite a few parents taking advantage of our in-person enrollment/registration this morning at Vernon Elementary. Staff members from each of our campuses were there to help those who had questions. This morning's enrollment/registration session will continue until 1 p.m. The evening session will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m.
Our Vernon ISD in-person enrollment/registration for the 2026-27 school year will be held tomorrow at Vernon Elementary School. We will have representatives from every campus there ready to help get your youngster set for the new year. If you haven't enrolled/registered online, stop by from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The State of Texas requires certain immunizations before students can start the school year. Vernon ISD asks that you please review the information below to ensure your child is ready for the first day of school.
Today Vernon ISD welcomed our new teachers and staff on the first day of their district orientation. New teacher/staff orientation will last the rest of the week. All teachers and staff will return Monday for a week of professional development as we prepare for the first day of school on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Our online registration system, Skyward, will be locked down today from Noon until approximately 5 p.m., while we roll our students over to the grade they will be in for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. This evening online registration should again be available. And remember, our in-person registration/enrollment will be held tomorrow from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Vernon Elementary School Cafeteria.
