
Here are the summer hours for school offices at our campuses and at our administration building. We hope everyone has a great summer.


During the VHS Class of 2024 graduation ceremony, all seniors were recognized and received their diploma from VISD Board of Trustee President Emory Byars and received congratulations from trustees Chris Lehman, Bryson Henry, Patrick Parmer, Amanda Lehman and Carrie Hawkins.











Commencement for the Vernon High School Class of 2024 was held Saturday morning at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium. Stands on both sides of the field were filled with family and friends there to celebrate with the graduates. Valedictorian Moonnica Taing led the class onto the track as the Roarin' Lion Band played "Pomp and Circumstance." Third-ranking student Christopher Martinez offered the invocation, while Salutatorian Rufaro Mubvumba and Moonnica addressed their fellow graduates.











Remember our Lion/Lady Lion Basketball Camp is June 25-27. The deadline to register for the camp and get a camp t-shirt is June 4.


Last week VISD held a Lions Roar Recognition Ceremony where special award were presented for the 2023-24 school year. Awards were presented to the Teachers and Staff of the Year at each campus, retirees were honored, a local business was recognized as the Lion's Pride Partner of the Year, and the Newcomer Teacher of the Year, Elementary Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year were announced.










Last week VISD held a Lions Roar Recognition Ceremony where special award were presented for the 2023-24 school year. Longevity awards were presented to employees who had been with the district for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years, along with recognizing PTO members, VISD trustees and the VISD Retired Teacher Award.

The Vernon High School Senior Scholarship Banquet was held earlier this week in the VHS Cafeteria. Fifty-three seniors were recognized and 120 scholarships were awarded. This is the first of five posts recognizing all the scholarships and recipients.











Don't forget our Art Camp for 6th thru 12th graders. Your child can explore their artistic side and hone their art skills. The Art Camp will include a variety of art forms including sketching, painting and more. Call the Vernon Middle School office to register at 940-552-6231.


Our annual Mock Wreck -- to show seniors and juniors the dangers of driving while under the influence -- occurred Tuesday morning on the south side of the football stadium. A big thank you to the Vernon PD, Vernon FD, Wilbarger County Sheriff's Office, Sullivan Funeral Home and Air Vac for helping with this presentation.











Tuesday afternoon Vernon High School held a reception recognizing members of our Class of 2024 who will be joining the military after graduation. Our seniors who will be serving our country in the Armed Forces are: Keyshawn Edwards, Preston Overby, Danielle Parker and Johnny Pruitt Jr., in the Marines; Vincent Houck and T.J. Thomas in the Navy; and Shyne Rodriguez, Jas No La and Nay Moo in the Army. We are proud of these students for their decision to serve defending our nation.




All campuses will be on an early release schedule on Thursday and on Friday, the final day of our 2023-24 school year!!


Monday morning VHS held its Senior Pep Rally for the Class of 2024. During the pep rally each sport and organization at the high school was spotlighted along with the seniors who are involved in each activity. A slide show of the seniors was also shown, along with a slide show of former teachers and coaches offering words of wisdom and encouragement to our Class of 2024. The pep rally ended with the seniors lining up to sing the Alma Mater.











If your child has medication at their school, please stop by and pick it up by the last day of school. The medication cannot be sent home with the student and it cannot stay at the school during the summer. If you have any questions, please contact your campus school nurse.


Stop by D.O. Fulton Gym today between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., and help us recognize and thank the members of our 2024 graduating class who are entering the military.


Some of our VISD students have been recommended for summer school. If your child has been recommended for summer school, you should have received a letter with a QR code. The QR code allows you to register your child for summer school.
