To celebrate the end of another six weeks, the VES, VMS, and VHS PTO groups delivered a sweet treat to every staff member on their campus, along with bottled water generously provided by Texas Credit. We appreciate our amazing parents for their ongoing support. Your efforts mean so much to our district and to each and every campus. THANK YOU!!!

The Lions Roar Tailgate held Friday leading up to the Lions' game against Bowie was a fantastic success! From busy food trucks to kids enjoying all the games, it was an evening full of fun and community spirit. A huge thanks goes out to everyone who set up, participated, and came out to make this event amazing! When our school and community comes together, great things happen. Here's to positive collaboration for a thriving town and school system!!

Our Vernon Elementary Students of the Week for last week are: 2nd Grade -- Sofia Salas; 3rd Grade -- Maryanna Johnson; 4th Grade -- Jeremiah Damas; and 5th Grade -- Abel Graue. Congratulations!!! Great job!!!

During halftime of Friday's football game close to 200 of our Vernon Elementary students took the field to perform a Cotton-eyed Joe dance routine with the VHS Drill Team. They did a great job and we're proud of their performance!

Students in Mrs. Inman's 4th grade Social Studies class wrapped up their project on Native Americans Friday by presenting the dioramas they made and giving a presentation to their class on the tribe they researched. Each student researched an Indian tribe native to Texas. In their research, they answered questions such as what area of Texas the tribe lived in; what tools the tribe used; what they wore; what they ate; and what type of structures they live in. I am sorry it is late notice but I wanted to let you know my classes are presenting their indian dioramas today from 9:45-11:35 and 1:45-3:35 if you have some time to come snap some pictures. Again I am so sorry this is late notice.

Before we went on Fall Break, an election was held for Student Council officers. Elected as officers of the 2024-25 Student Council were: Isla Streit, president; Keely Jones, vice president; Gavin Bayer, treasurer; and Nilianna Hines, secretary. Also serving on the Student Council are Keegan Coley, Mathius Leija, Xavier Gomez, D'Angelo Galvan, Braylee Knight, Parker Ford, Xavier Sanders, and Aiden Hernandez.

Last Wednesday, in celebration of Fall Break, Mrs. Kelli Coble's 3rd grade class had a cross-curriculum lesson using Candy Corn. Students learned about the history of Candy Corn, wrote an opinion piece on it, used it in several science experiments, and even made a catapult. The students learned a lot and may have done a little bit of snacking too!

Today, 3rd grade students in Mrs. Civitarese's class studied how gravity affects objects during their science class time. To help observe how gravity affects objects the students participated in Minute To Win It games including the cup stack, egg race, balloon in the air, and cookie face

Thanksgiving is 6 weeks away, but it's not to early to start training for the VHS Turkey Trot!! The 5K Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at Lion Stadium. There will be a Kids' Fun Run that starts at 9 a.m., with the 5K Turkey Trot set to start at 9:15 a.m. The deadline to register and secure a t-shirt is Nov. 13. The event is sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance in Vernon. The event is hosted by the Vernon High School National Honor Society and Student Council. All proceeds from the event benefit VISD at-risk youth.
