VISD SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION TODAY!
We will be conducting in-person registration for summer school today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Vernon Middle School. If you received a letter recommending your child attend summer school we encourage you to register them for the program. Attending summer school can be very beneficial for students who are struggling and can help them have an easier time in the classroom next year. Last Friday Vernon ISD held a Lions Roar Recognition Luncheon to honor employees with longevity awards and special honors. The theme for the event was "Vacation Mode." Fifty employees received longevity awards, with one of those employees -- Curtis Sims -- being honored for his 40 years of service to the district. Earlier this week our VES students received their 2025-26 yearbooks and enjoyed a signing party in the cafeteria.

Our Vernon High Class of 2026 walked the halls of our elementary and middle schools as VISD students for the very last time today, as they prepare to walk the stage Saturday morning at at their Commencement Exercises at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium. https://youtu.be/CEhtcfwIUQU

If you want to keep your youngsters busy this summer, then Vernon ISD can help you out!! During the third week of June (June 15-18) VISD will be hosting some great educational and fun camps!! There will be science camps, art camps, cooking camps and a lego camp for a variety of age groups from kindergartners to eighth graders. Check out the info below. Members of our Vernon Elementary Student Council gave tours to our incoming 2nd graders Monday morning. The students were split into three groups, with the student council members with each group showing the students around and providing directions on how things work at VES. At the end of their tours, the students were given a sweet treat courtesy of our cafeteria staff. We believe our incoming 2nd graders are going to be a great addition to our VES family in 2026-27!

Our 4th grade students enjoyed their Field Day/Track Meet that they were able to participate in recently.

There was plenty of running, throwing and hopping and fun at the 3rd grade Field Day/Track Meet held recently at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium.

SURVEY DEADLINE May 22!
If you were one of the select parents of students in our Special Education Program who received an email about a survey in which Vernon ISD is federally required to participate. We encourage you to please complete the survey. Your feedback directly impacts how VISD improves special education services; supports students and families; and recognizes areas of strength across our district.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is collecting parent feedback, and Vernon Independent School District is participating!
The survey only takes a few minutes to complete and your feedback MATTERS!!
