Here is the Vernon ISD 2024-25 school calendar. Trustees approved next year's school calendar at their meeting Monday night. Key dates:
-- School starts, Wednesday, Aug. 14
-- Fall Break, Oct. 17 thru Oct. 21
-- Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 25 thru Dec. 1
-- Christmas Break, Dec. 23 thru Jan. 7, 2025
-- Spring Break, March 10 thru March 16, 2025
-- Last Day of School, May 22, 2025


At last night's VISD School Board meeting the VHS Traditional Animation Film crew -- Garrett Munson, Rodrigo Olivas, Eziqiel Amador and Kenneth Cordero, along with sponsor Dustin Swatzell, were recognized for their entry reaching the state finals of the UIL Film Competition, which was held last month. Their traditional animated film was one of the top six entries from across the state in Class 1A thru 3A. This was the first time for a VHS entry to advance all the way to state.

Our Vernon Lions will be at home tonight as they square off against the Bowie Jackrabbits in a District 7-3A game at Jabe Brazzle Field. JV action starts at 5 p.m., with the varsity game set to begin at 7 p.m. Good luck Lions!!!

Our Lady Lions are hosting the Bowie Lady Rabbits today for a District 7-3A softball game at Ronda Havins Softball Field. Varsity action will begin at 5 p.m., with the JV game set to start at 7 p.m.


We hope everyone remembers to wear green today!! We also hope everyone has had a great spring break and we're excited to see all of our students and staff as school resumes tomorrow.


UPDATE: Due to a conflict, we have changed the date of the basketball tournament. It will now be held April 15. We will provide more information as the event gets closer.

A send-off for the three Lady Lions who will be competing at the State Powerlifting Meet will be held tomorrow morning. Kamryn Hall, Olivia Carr and Klancy Sherrill will be escorted down Wilbarger Street tomorrow at 10 a.m., as they head to Frisco to compete in the State Meet on Thursday. Some VES students made a banner to show their support and celebrate the powerlifters. Line Wilbarger tomorrow morning and cheer these Lady Lions on as they head to state!



Our Lions will travel to Jacksboro today for a District 7-3A baseball game against the Tigers. Game time is set for 1 p.m. Good luck Lions!!!

Vernon ISD recently held a CTE Fair for all of our 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. At the fair, students were able to hear presentations from local residents who have jobs within a career pathway in which the student has shown an interest. One of our CTE industry partners for the Nursing Science pathway is nurse practitioner Chad Brownlow. Chad attended the fair and spoke to our students. Thank you Chad for taking time to visit with our students and thank you for being a CTE Industry Sponsor.

Four Vernon Lions made the District 7-3A All-District basketball team and one received honorable mention for the 2024 season. First Team honors went to junior Adarius Williams and senior Julius Dawkins, while senior Kell Castleberry and sophomore Ty Scott made the Second Team. Receiving honorable mention honors was junior Jackson Aydelott. Academic All-District honors went to Jamari Chance, J'Dyn Cooper, Jevon Fanner, Ty Scott and Adarius Williams. Congratulations to these Lions for earning this all-district honors!
The District 7-3A All-District Basketball Team could not be released until all district teams were eliminated from the playoffs, and with the Holliday Eagles reaching the 3A State Basketball Tournament, the all-district team could not be released until after the tournament was over.
