Fashion from the 50s, 70s, 80s and 90s were on display Friday as it was Decades Day at VHS. The day wrapped up the high school's Red Ribbon Awareness Week, and also fell in with the pep rally theme of "Kick The Hawks Back In Time."

Remember tomorrow we're back on Central Standard Time, so be sure and set your clocks back an hour tonight before you go to bed. Enjoy that extra hour of sleep!!

Here are some scenes from today's Lions Pride Pep Rally. The theme for today's pep rally was "Kick Those Hawks Back In Time." There was plenty of excitement in the air at the pep rally as the Lions prepare to face Iowa Park in a big District 4-3A, D1 game tonight.

Our Lions travel to Iowa Park tonight for a District 4-3A, D1 showdown with their long-time Rival the Hawks. Vernon is 3-1 in district play, while Iowa Park is 2-2. The Lions are on a 3-game winning streak, while the Hawks have won 2 straight. Tickets for tonight's game can be purchased at the gate or online at https://www.ticketleap.events/events/iphawks

Our Lady Lions will be squaring off against the Jacksboro Tigerettes today with the winner heading into the playoffs as the No. 4 seed from District 7-3A. The two teams finished the district season with identical records of 5-7, and they split their two games, which forced the play-in game. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online here https://www.ticketleap.events/events/iphawks

It was Disney Day at VHS today as the theme for the day for Red Ribbon Week was "You're Too Royal To Do Drugs!" Our students love their Disney characters!!

VISD is going back in time tomorrow as it is "Decades Day!" The theme for the Lions Pride Pep Rally is "Kick The Hawks Back In Time!" We're expecting some interesting attire from the 50's, 70's, 80's and 90's!

This week Vernon ISD has an early release for students on Friday. We hope our students enjoy getting a jump on starting their weekend!!

Today Vernon Lion MVPs from both the Boyd game and the Bowie game received their game balls, which are provided by our local Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Agency. MVPs for the Bowie game were Co-Special Teams MVP Mu Soe & Tru Gipson, and Offensive MVP Ty Scott. The Lions honored the late Gayla DeHoyos by naming her the Defensive MVP and the Lions Leadership Council presented the game ball to Tony DeHoyos.
Receiving MVP balls for the Boyd game were Co-Defensive MVP Javi Lopez & Tyce Payne; Offensive MVP Carson Schoppa; and Special Team MVP Donnie Montano.

Today's Red Ribbon Week theme at VHS was "Your Future Is Bright, Don't Do Drugs" and to look into the future, students wore clothes relating to the career they hope to follow as adults.

Yesterday AG teacher Jakelyn Quisenberry took her VMS and VHS students on a field trip to watch the Southwest Cattledog Association Regional Trials that are being held at the Wilbarger County Covered Event Center. Local competitor Cody Bell spoke to some of the students about training and showing cattle dogs.

To celebrate the end of another six weeks, the VES, VMS, and VHS PTO groups delivered a sweet treat to every staff member on their campus, along with bottled water generously provided by Texas Credit. We appreciate our amazing parents for their ongoing support. Your efforts mean so much to our district and to each and every campus. THANK YOU!!!

Today's theme for Red Ribbon Awareness Week is "Don't Get Mixed Up In Drugs" and to go along with that theme, it is "Mix and Match Day" at VHS. Our students definitely enjoyed mixing and matching their outfits today!

Our Lady Lions hit the road today for their District 7-3A regular-season finale in Wichita Falls against the City View Lady Mustangs.
