Our Lions are hosting Iowa Park in a football game here Friday night, but there's alot going on before, in the middle, and after the game. Check out the graphic below. So...plan to come early and stay late to cheer on and support all of our VISD students!!

There was a sea of red in our hallways as the Red Ribbon Week theme for today was "Wear Red For Red Ribbon Week -- Are You Red-y To Be Drug-Free?" This week is designated as Red Ribbon Week, as schools ban together across the nation to fight the war on drugs.

To celebrate the end of the second six weeks, our teachers and staff were treated by our VES PTO to a delicious cake bar. The cake bar was generously donated by V&M Creations. As a district, we are thankful for the wonderful parent engagement!! We know everyone enjoyed the sweet treat.

At times it was hard to tell the teachers and staff from the students today with today's theme for Red Ribbon Week being "Students Become Teachers, Teachers Become Students -- Swap Out Drugs For A Better Life." Whether they were teachers or students, it appeared everyone had a fun time.

At the October VISD Board of Trustees meeting three of our 2nd graders -- Saralyn Hamby, Jonah Barnes and Jarret Thompson -- presented a project they while studying Ancient Greek History. The youngsters selected a Greek god and researched their powers. They were a little nervous, but did a great job.

Monday was a comfortable day here at VES when it came to clothes, as we took part in the Red Ribbon Week activities and Monday's theme was "Pajama Day -- Follow Your Dreams, Don't Do Drugs."

Don't forget!! Tomorrow is the 2nd Annual VES Soup Night!! VES will be serving a variety of soups and cornbread prepared by our teachers and staff members from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the VES Cafeteria. This is a free event for all of our students and their families!! Students in our Gifted and Talented Program will also be displaying some of the science projects they have been working on.

Our VES Students of the Week for last week were announced today. Students receiving that honor were Mika'l Lewis, 5th Grade; Macelyn Patterson, 4th Grade; Darrell McLaughlin, 3rd Grade; and Evan Owens, 2nd Grade. Congratulations!! Great job! Keep up the good work!!

Next week is Red Ribbon Week and all of our campuses will be participating in the activities, as we fight the war on drugs. It should be a fun week for our students.

Bryan Taylor was our top seller in our VES Big Kahuna Fundraiser. For earning the top seller spot, Bryan received the large dinosaur. Great job Bryan!! Way to go!!

Our VES administrators and counselors treated all the VES staff to an "Apple Nacho Bar" today to close out the week!

These some of VES students took a field trip to visit the Sweet Pickins Pumpkin Patch in Altus. It would appear they had a great time!

PLEASE REMEMBER!
Although the football game is being played tonight in Bowie, tomorrow is still an early release Friday for Vernon ISD.

Due to weather concerns for Friday night's Vernon-Bowie football game, the schools have agreed to move the game to Thursday. Kickoff is still set for 7 p.m., at Jackrabbit Stadium. However, due to that move, adjustments had to be made to other junior high and high school sports schedules. Please check the information below. The high school volleyball games had to remain on Friday, due to UIL's rule of one game per week. Athletic events that are played after school hours on Friday are considered to be on the weekend.
