Our 7th Grade Band students have hit the ground running and have begun rehearsing songs for our fall semester performances, as well as music they will perform alongside the high school band later in the football season! We are proud of their hard work and can't wait to see them shine this school year!

Our Vernon Lions kick off their 2025 season tonight at home when they take on the Burkburnett Bulldogs! Game time is 7 p.m. All general admission tickets must be purchased online at https://www.vernonisd.org/page/ticket-purchases
Single-game reserve seat tickets can be purchased at the Vernon ISD Administration Building until noon today. Reserve seat tickets are $7.

The scores were tight at the 3rd Annual Vernon ISD Lions Roar Golf Tournament, with 4 strokes separating the top 7 teams. Saturday the 3rd Annual Lions Roar Golf Tournament benefiting the VISD Foundation was held at the Hill Crest Country Club. Sixteen teams in the 4-person scramble participated in the tournament, and enjoyed playing in warm, but perfect, golf weather.
Come on out to Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium Sunday evening for our 2025 "Meet The Lions" event. United Supermarket will be providing free hot dogs!! Stay cool with a Kona Ice!! Get your little one's face painted!! Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and introduction of athletes in cross country, volleyball, tennis and football, along with cheerleaders and members of the band and drill team will begin at 7 p.m.!!

Vernon ISD put the finishing touches on what I would call a great convocation last week, and I led off that ceremony with the statement “there is no greater time in my career than now to be a teacher.” The world is still lacking in the respect that needs to be demonstrated to teachers and the job that they do; however, it is comforting and a step in the right direction when the Legislature determines it is time for the teachers to be awarded a raise.....

Last week was the first week of school, and our science classes were already conducting lab experiments and the students were having fun. Other departments hit the ground running last week as well, as we kicked off the 2025-26 school year. Great job teachers and students. We're keeping our expectations HIGH this year!!
Vernon ISD is looking for parents to be a part of our School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). Better health leads to higher grades, and when you participate your child is more successful! The council meets four times a year. For more information check out the flyer below.
Vernon ISD is kicking off year two of our Dudes on Duty volunteer program — and we need your help to spread the word!
We’re looking for dads, husbands, grandfathers, uncles, church friends, and other positive male role models to spend time with our students during morning drop-off and lunch/recess. Just showing up, engaging with students, and offering a friendly presence can make a huge difference in creating a safe and welcoming environment.
All campuses are participating — and whether or not they have kids in our district, all men are welcome — however, they must be an APPROVED VOLUNTEER!

We had a packed house at VMS last night as students picked up their class schedules, and both parents and students found their classrooms and met their teachers for the 2025-26 school year.

VISD Supt. Dr. Kermit Ward started the first day of school at Vernon Middle School greeting students as they stepped off the bus. Dr. Ward planned on stopping by each campus today as VISD begins its 2025-26 school year.
We have some wonderful PTOs at our campuses. Children do better in school when they see their parents involved and interested in what they are doing.
